Meet the Team...So far!
We need more volunteers to come forward and join the team and help with fascinating work of collecting, editing and uploading to the archive a lot of Pilton's history. If you would like to join The Pilton Story team please contact us with your details and particular interest in Pilton. We'll give you training to use of the equipment and teach you useful computer skills at the same time.
If you would like to contact The Pilton Story, please:
- visit the Contact Us page of our website www.thepiltonstory.org
- email us on admin@thepiltonstory.org
- visit our Facebook Group www.facebook.com/groups/ThePiltonStory/
If you leave or post a message we will reply as soon as possible.
We hope to be able to continue our aim of opening our office in Pilton Church Hall in Pilton Street every Monday evening from 5 - 7pm but this is not always possible through lack of volunteers.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the kind contributers of the videos, photographs, audio files, documents and memories. Without these it would have been very difficult for us to have taken this project as far as it has come.
Richard Howe
Richard is a journalist who's lived in Pilton for 35 years and who thought up the idea of The Pilton Story to record memories of local people for an oral archive. Picture courtesy of the North Devon Journal.
Margaret Reed
Margaret has lived in Pilton for more than 60 years, for many years has researched and published works on the history of the parish, is a Trustee of Pilton United Charity and is a member of Pilton Church Hall Committee etc.
Clea Curtis
Lived in Ladywell and then at 19 Pilton Street as a child in the 60's and 70's, returned as an adult in the 90's (this place gets into your bones!), and is fascinated by the interconnected web of characters who make up our community and is determined to keep that alive.
Terry Chaplin
Group Scout Leader with Pilton Scout Group, Clerk to Pilton United Charity, Compiler of the Pilton Heritage Trail and proud to be associated with Pilton Church Hall and its Pilton Story archive.
Pip Cartmell
Pip is a Drama Teacher who has lived in Pilton for 25 years. She is keen on community events and loves being part of Pilton.
Martin Haddrill
Martin has lived in Pilton since 2001 and, having retired in 2007, has developed a passion for Pilton, being closely involved with Pilton Green Man Day, Pilton Cinema and The Pilton Story and was instrumental in setting up the Pilton Green Man CIO in 2016.
Wendy Clarke
After thirty years in South Devon, Wendy moved from Totnes to Pilton in 2013 to take on a very 'pre-loved' historic house. She enjoys the creativity, dynamism and doughtiness of the Pilton community - reminiscent of Totnes - and has a particular interest in local monastic history.
Pete Masteika
We arrived in Pilton last November after moving from the edge of Exmoor where we lived for 25 years. Pilton and the Green Man festivals (having marshalled for some years) appeal strongly to my deep interest in history, and being retired would love to delve further into Pilton's rich historical past.
